Trends in the Development of Assisted Reproductive Technologies in Large and Small Mice and Applications of Genetically Modified Animals

The National Laboratory Animal Center of NARLabs has invited Kumamoto University for a lecture titled: “Trends in the Development of Assisted Reproductive Technologies in Large and Small Mice and Applications of Genetically Modified Animals.” 🤩 The course is free, so don’t miss this great opportunity! 👏

🔹Lecture details are as follows:
(1) Lecture Content: Mice and rats are the most widely used experimental animal resources in biomedical research. In recent years, researchers have utilized gene-editing technologies to produce many disease model animals. Are you interested in learning how assisted reproductive technologies can be applied to establish experimental animal resources?
This course features researchers from the Reproductive Engineering Department of Kumamoto University's Center for Animal Resources and Development (CARD), who will share topics on assisted reproductive technologies in large and small mice.
(2) Introduction to Kumamoto University: Founded in 1998, Kumamoto University's Center for Animal Resources and Development (CARD) offers cryopreservation and supply services for transgenic mice and is a globally recognized mouse repository. CARD has registered 2,128 strains for open sharing in the International Mouse Strain Resource (IMSR). In addition to collecting and preserving important experimental mouse resources, CARD focuses on the development and research of assisted reproductive technologies in mice and rats. Key technological developments include embryo vitrification, mouse sperm cryopreservation, in vitro fertilization using MBCD and GSH, improving superovulation efficiency with inhibin antiserum, and low-temperature transportation of embryos and sperm. These techniques have become mainstream methods known globally as the “CARD Protocol.”
